Hey guys, so it’s been quite a while since I last posted on my blog and to be honest I have nothing to say. I originally wanted to do the 3 month challenge but ended up not doing it as I was too busy preparing to fly off to Australia which is where I live right now. It’s such a huge step in my journey moving to a new country when I’m 18 and taking a step closer in the career I want to do in the future. I’m currently doing my bachelor in composition and music production and have been meeting all sorts of different people in school. I’ve recently landed a job interview and I hope everything goes well and I get a part-time job to support myself. I still attend language meetups to practice languages so that I don’t forget them although it can be a bit hard maintaining them especially with how busy school is. It’s been over a month since I’ve been here in Sydney and I’m really liking it so far although the weather can be really ridiculous sometimes. >< Hopefully I’ll get to travel more around Sydney and other parts of Australia when I have the time and hopefully more money xD
So it’s been a month since I wrote my 3 month journey blog for Spanish and Japanese. After a month of studying Spanish, I’ve finally decided to post a video to practice my spanish. Hopefully you guys can comment on it so that I can improve even further, I really think my main problem is that I need to know much more words xD I find it hard to express myself when I lack the words to do so…But hopefully I’ll get even better when I hit the 3 month mark
unfortunately I can’t edit the captions and I made slight errors when making the captions but oh wells~
do comment on the video so I know where I can improve etc
my first public video of me practicing spanish
Hey guys~ how have you all been?
Recently on the 13th of June, I had a skype interview with the Head of Department for the university that I was applying for. Honestly, I was so nervous I probably messed up quite a bit but it was all good. As I was waiting for the acceptance letter to arrive in the inbox I was so nervous. You know that feeling you get when you’re just patiently waiting for something to happen but it hasn’t occured yet? Well that’s kinda what it felt like.
And I am pleased to inform everyone that I have been accepted into university! Woo hoo~!! I feel kinda sad having to leave all my friends and family behind and move into a whole new country but hopefully it’ll be the experience of a lifetime and I hope to create many great opportunities there!
I’d also like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my journey and to all the wonderful people I’ve met in 2013 it’s been great knowing each and everyone of you guys~
P.S. I’ll be leaving Singapore around August and honestly am both really excited and nervous about this whole thing but still I can’t wait!
Hey to anyone who even bothers to read my blog post^_^
I’ve decided to set myself some goals during these three months from June to August. I’ve finally decided to learn the piano, I’m currently using this wonderful channel on youtube by the name of Lypur you can search for “Lypur” on youtube and his channel should be there. I’m also currently learning music theory from his videos.
I bought a cajón pretty recently as well and have been jamming with a few new musician friends, it was a really great experience meeting so many like-minded individuals. Got the chance to play the djembe as well during the sunday jam. I’m definitely hoping for the jamming to be a regular thing now.
So I’ve set myself some goals for language learning as well and hopefully i’ll be able to achieve those goals.
During these three months, I’ll be improving my Japanese and Spanish to an intermediate and low intermediate respectively. Hopefully, even higher. I’m going to implement the Gold List method for learning vocabulary and I might even try out the FLR techniques by Moses McCormick for grammar. So hopefully, after the three months I’ll be able to update you guys on how I have faired and how I’m going to move on from there. Maybe even pick up a new language?
I’m definitely still practicing the guitar and drums as per normal, recently challenged myself to learn Christana Perri’s A Thousand Years arranged by Sungha Jung. It’s been quite of a challenge but I think it’s worth it. There’s a great channel you guys can check out on youtube by the name of Gareth Evans, he has lots of tutorials on fingerstyle arrangements for the guitar arranged by Sungha Jung.
As for drums I’m currently practicing for my second song for my MDS Beginner Stage 2 test, the first song was Adam Lambert’s No Boundaries and the second song is going to be Foo Figher’s Learn To Fly, I’m definitely struggling to keep up with Learn To Fly xD Especially with how the drums immediately kick in. Unlike the previous song in No Boundaries where the drums don’t come in till much later. The tempo of Learn To Fly is definitely a challenge as well and I’m hoping to overcome that barrier.
So to anyone who have set out goals for themselves be it short term long term etc, do leave a comment on how you’re going about it and what are the challenges you’ve faced so far.
Thank you and signing off
ALim – Amanda
